About this tender

Overview Gladstone Regional Council is seeking tenders from suitably qualified contractors to design and construct a Columbarium wall at Bororen Cemetery. About The Gladstone Region Cemetery Plan (2022) provides strategic direction for the long-term planning, management and maintenance of Council's cemetery network. It identifies the need for additional ashes interment capacity in response to the growing preference for cremation, with approximately 70% of funerals in the Gladstone region involving cremation. Bororen Cemetery, located approximately 12 kilometres north of Miriam Vale, is an active cemetery managed by Gladstone Regional Council, comprising monumental and lawn sections and a small columbarium memorial wall. The cemetery's earliest recorded burial dates to 1887. The Gladstone Region Cemetery Network Technical Report (2021) identified capacity constraints for both burials and ashes interments at Bororen Cemetery. New lawn beams were completed in December 2024, with an additional columbarium wall required to meet projected demand over the coming two years. Council is responsible for ensuring its cemetery network is appropriately planned, developed and maintained to provide a sustainable and accessible community service. Scope The scope includes: Design and construction of a columbarium wall with burial niches, complete with adjoining pathway, seating and landscaping Demolition of the existing wall, including pavers, wall footings and garden edging Site establishment, clearing and grubbing, and site preparation Shrub removal (approximately 7 shrubs) Civil and earthworks Hardscape works Landscaping and seating
