DSC - Supply of materials, Little Reef St Pedestrian Bridge & Cape Tribulation Boardwalk Renewal

Overview Douglas Shire Council invites suitably qualified and experienced suppliers to submit a tender for the design, manufacture, supply, and delivery of Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) structural components for the construction of two new pedestrian boardwalks located at separate sites within the Douglas Shire local government area. About The proposed boardwalks will be constructed by Council's internal workforce and are situated in environmentally sensitive coastal locations in mangrove ecosystems. Due to the remote nature of the sites and the limitations with access for heavy construction equipment, both structures will be constructed in situ. One of the boardwalk locations is situated within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, requiring careful consideration of environmental impacts, constructability, durability, and material handling during installation. The proposed boardwalk structures will utilise the existing pier and pile foundations at each site. Council has engaged an engineer to assess the condition and suitability of the existing piers. Scope The scope includes: Design, manufacture, supply, and delivery of FRP structural components for two new pedestrian boardwalks at separate sites within the Douglas Shire local government area Development of a deck system compatible with the retained existing pier and pile foundations at each site, considering support spacing, geometry, and load capacity Structural design and engineering certification of the FRP deck structure Supply of FRP bearers and joists Supply of FRP handrails, balustrades, and posts Supply of 30 mm FRP Mini Mesh decking panels Supply of all associated Grade 316 stainless steel fixings, connectors, and fastening systems Delivery of all materials to the nominated site location: 96 Alchera Drive, Mossman Qld 4873 Separate pricing for supply and transport for each boardwalk project, provided as separate line items as the two boardwalks are separate projects Contractor Requirements Demonstrated experience in the design and supply of FRP boardwalk structures and associated components suitable for harsh marine and coastal environments Ability to demonstrate that the proposed system meets all relevant Australian Standards, engineering requirements, and durability expectations for long-term public infrastructure assets Any assumptions regarding the suitability of the existing piers must be clearly identified in the tender submission Information Requested Tenderers are encouraged to provide the following in their submission: Details of similar projects successfully completed in comparable coastal, marine, or environmentally sensitive environments Relevant technical specifications Design assumptions Product warranties Maintenance requirements Lead times for manufacture and delivery Instructions to Tenderers This Request for Tender should be read in conjunction with the attached Scope of Works document and description of the existing boardwalk, which provides detailed project information, site-specific requirements, design criteria, and technical specifications. Tenderers are expected to review all documentation and satisfy themselves as to the extent of the works and obligations associated with the supply of the FRP boardwalk systems. Douglas Shire Council reserves the right to accept or reject any submission and is not bound to accept the lowest-priced tender. Submissions will be evaluated on value for money, technical compliance, demonstrated experience, product quality, delivery capability, and overall suitability for the intended application.
