Overview Sunwater is seeking responses to this Request for Information (RFI) for the provision of Electricity Retail Supply from suitably qualified electricity retailers to support the development of its future electricity procurement strategy for a portfolio of large contestable electricity connections associated with its regional pump station operations. Sunwater is considering a range of procurement options for electricity supply, including traditional contracting arrangements and procurement models that support evolving renewable energy objectives. Respondents are invited to provide feedback on the practical implementation, benefits and risks associated with these approaches. About Sunwater's existing electricity retail supply arrangement for its large contestable sites expires on 31 December 2028. The portfolio comprises 33 large contestable sites (pump stations) consuming approximately 147 GWh per annum. Sunwater is undertaking this RFI process to obtain indicative pricing, commercial information and market feedback to support the procurement of its future electricity retail supply arrangements for its large contestable electricity portfolio, commencing on 1 January 2029. Respondents are requested to provide information and pricing for contract terms ranging from three (3) to seven (7) years. The electricity provided under any electricity retail supply contract is for pumping water to irrigation, urban and industrial customers. Electricity represents one of Sunwater's largest operating expenses. Accordingly, Sunwater seeks to establish a procurement approach that delivers value, competitive pricing, appropriate risk allocation, and the flexibility to support future operational requirements. Historical interval consumption data is provided for the purposes of this RFI and is intended as background information only. Sunwater has engaged Energy Market Matters Australia Pty Ltd (Emmanent), an independent energy market advisory firm, to support the development of its future electricity procurement strategy and support this RFI process. Emmanent is assisting Sunwater with market engagement, information gathering, portfolio analysis and the development of future procurement options.
