About this tender
The Aurukun Bauxite Project is a greenfield bauxite operation in the Aurukun region of Western Cape York, Far North Queensland. The bauxite will be mined using conventional truck and loader operation, and ore will be processed in an on-site beneficiation plant. Product ore will then be transported to a Coastal Loading Facility (CLF) from which it will then be transported by transhipment vessel to an offshore transhipment area and transferred to bulk carriers for export. The project is anticipated to produce approximately 8 million dry product tonnes of bauxite per year over a life of mine of more than 20 years. Proposed project components include: Truck dump station and run of mine storage Ore beneficiation facility Coastal Loading Facility (Land and Marine) Transhipment vessel Water supply dam and infrastructure Fines (tailings) storage facility Power generation Initial haul roads network Communications / Control system Mine infrastructure buildings, including operations and temporary workshops and general infrastructure including a telecommunications system Temporary works required to support construction, including a construction camp, accommodation village, power, water and telecommunications; and Information systems and technology equipment, heavy mine equipment, Product Haulage equipment and mine operations equipment DELIVERY SCHEDULE During 2021 and 2022, the Aurukun Bauxite Project Joint Venture is undertaking a program of technical, approvals and community work that will inform a final investment decision by the Joint Venture. Future procurement decisions are dependent on approval of the Joint Venture. Construction of associated mine infrastructure is anticipated to take 24 months from investment decision.
