Overview Rio Tinto Limited is seeking expressions of interest from Process Facilities Contractors for the Kangwinan Project (reference 26747-030-HC3-M000-00010). About The Kangwinan Project is located in the vicinity of Norman Creek, Cape York Peninsula, approximately 60 km south of Weipa. A bauxite processing plant and materials handling system will be constructed on the southern side of Norman Creek to process crude bauxite ore and transport the export bauxite product approximately 15 km south-east via overland conveyor to the existing Amrun stockyard. Key scoping items for the Project include a new 19Mtpa crushing and beneficiation plant, a camp expansion, a new overland conveyor, water supply, and a stockyard, wharf and ship loader expansion, together with earthworks scope. Scope The Process Facilities Contractor is responsible for performing the structural, concrete, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation works required for the construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of the following scope: A new bauxite beneficiation plant, including a truck dump, crushers, screening modules, conveyors, transfer towers, and slurry pumping systems A 14.5 km long overland conveyor, consisting of pre-fabricated ground modules An expansion to an existing product bauxite stockyard, including a stacker feed conveyor and rail-mounted stacker Power distribution systems, including the installation of buried cables and the placement and connection of prefabricated substations Water distribution systems from a central process water pond, including pump skids and buried water networks Installation of artesian bore pumps in artesian bores drilled by others The scope will consist of both the placement of pre-fabricated modules and assemblies (fabricated off-site by others) and on-Site stick-built construction. The Contractor shall also be responsible for the supply of some items, including but not limited to: Electrical bulks (cable, lighting, termination kits, etc.) Formwork, rebar, and embedded items for site-poured concrete Special piping items, primarily fire hydrants and fire hoses Contractor Requirements Compliance with all applicable Rio Tinto Standards, Australian and local regulations, statutory requirements, and Australian codes and standards as specified in the detailed scope of work provided to Bid participants Eligibility Expressions of interest are being sought from Contractors who can complete the whole scope of works. Expressions of interest may be submitted for all or part of the scope of works described. Local and Indigenous businesses are encouraged to participate.
