Overview Burnie City Council invites quotes from respondents for the provision of building repairs, miscellaneous building works, and rust removal and treatment to the façade and external steelwork at The Point Building, West Park Oval. About The existing Point Building at West Park Oval is in need of repair and repaint in various areas to the external façade. Scope The works will entail repairs, restoration and repainting of all facades, including all exposed steelwork, and replacement of various miscellaneous items as per the Scope of Works. The works are required to be undertaken such that the general day to day operations within the West Park Oval complex are unaffected, including maintaining free access and safety at all times. The contractor is to provide all labour, materials, plant, access equipment, scaffolding, protection, cleaning, preparation, repairs and painting necessary for the remedial treatment and recoating of the existing external fibre cement sheeting. The fibre cement sheeting is located externally in proximity to the ocean and is to be considered exposed to an aggressive coastal/marine environment, including airborne salts, chloride deposition, high humidity, wind-driven rain and potentially sea spray. The scope includes: Inspection of existing fibre cement sheeting and coatings Identification of damaged, cracked, deteriorated or loose sheets High-pressure fresh-water washing to remove marine salt deposits and contamination Removal of loose, peeling, flaking, blistered or poorly adhering existing coatings Cleaning and preparation of sound existing painted surfaces Repair of minor defects where appropriate Replacement of fibre cement sheeting that is significantly cracked, damaged, delaminated, deteriorated or otherwise unsuitable for recoating Preparation and priming of exposed bare fibre cement Spot priming of repaired areas Recoating of the complete prepared surface using the nominated Dulux exterior coating system Protection of adjacent surfaces Rectification of coating defects Final cleaning The completed works shall provide a uniform, durable and weather-resistant finish suitable for the building's severe coastal exposure.
