Buninyong Town Hall - DDA Compliant Access
Tender Overview
About this tender
Overview The City of Ballarat is seeking a contractor to carry out building works to improve DDA compliant access at the Buninyong Town Hall. Scope The scope includes: Replacement of the handrails on the front steps with compliant steel handrails, noting that historic photographs confirm the existing steel pipe handrails are not original and that handrails are required to allow continued use of the front stairs Removal of concrete gate posts to widen the entrance to the path, noting these posts appear to date from the 1920s or later, probably contemporary with the concrete addition to the Town Hall Removal of the existing asphalt path and rock edging and replacement with a new walkway to AS1428.1 compliant gradients, noting the existing path was built to provide a link between Learmonth Street and the rear car park as well as the side door, and is not considered significant Construction of a new pergola over a section of the walkway Removal of the existing side door, widening of the opening and installation of a new wider accessible door, together with a new steel framed awning roof over the new accessible entrance to provide shelter and identify the accessible entrance Internal wall removal at store rooms 1 and 2 and the passage to form a new lobby space, retaining the wall nib at the hall end, noting the existing corridor from the escape door in the hall to the west door is narrow, less than the width of the new external door, and too narrow to serve as the entrance to the hall Supper Room door alterations, including reversing door D5 to provide latch side clearance, replacing both leaves of door D6 with a new wide leaf and narrow leaf, replacing the double doors at D7 with a new wide single door and fixed panel, removing the single door at D8 and widening the opening to install a new wide and narrow pair of doors, and altering the servery opening to raise the head height to match the adjacent door head height Installation of a lift to the stage, including demolition of the west steps to the stage, widening of the D3 door opening to suit a 1020mm wide door, cutting back the stage, and installing a platform lift
