About this tender

Overview The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) is seeking Expressions of Interest for the supply of a direct drive chiller to replace an existing chiller at the Australian Synchrotron (AS) facility. About The Australian Synchrotron is a world-class research facility operated by ANSTO at Clayton, Victoria. The facility operates continuously and relies on a central refrigeration system to provide chilled water for critical facility heat loads, including low-conductivity water (LCW) cooling and HVAC systems. Chiller 1 is one of four chillers serving the primary cooling circuit. It is approximately 22 years old, has accumulated significant run hours and has reached end of life, with spare parts no longer readily available. Purpose Replacement of Chiller 1 is required to restore reliable N+1 cooling redundancy and reduce the risk of loss of critical cooling capacity. Scope The scope includes: Supply of a direct drive chiller to replace the existing Chiller 1 at the Australian Synchrotron Provision of a chiller suitable for chilled water supply at approximately 6°C, with return water at approximately 10°C Provision of a chiller compatible with the condenser water circuit, which typically enters the chiller at approximately 20°C and leaves at approximately 23°C for heat rejection through the cooling towers Contractor Requirements Conditions for participation: refer to Part C of the EOI Instructions to Tenderers The proposed timeframe for this process is as follows: Issue of Expression of Interest: 19/10/2026 Closing Date for Clarifications: 02/11/2026 ANSTO Response to Clarifications: 13/11/2026 Closing date for Expression of Interest: 12pm 09/11/2026 Preferred Supplier/s selected for Request for Tender Phase: 20/11/26 Lodgement is via www.tenders.gov.au. How to respond to this tender

A strong tender response is clear, compliant, and backed by evidence. These steps apply to most Australian and New Zealand public tenders.

Read the requirements in full

Open the official listing and download the full tender pack. Note the response schedules, evaluation criteria, mandatory conditions, and the exact closing time and lodgement method.

Confirm you are eligible and it is worth bidding

Check licences, insurances, certifications, and any conformance requirements before you commit. A quick bid or no-bid decision saves days of wasted effort on a tender you cannot win.

Answer every criterion with evidence

Respond to each evaluation criterion directly and back your claims with concrete examples, referees, and past performance. Address the buyer’s stated need, not a generic capability statement.

Lodge early through the official portal

Submit through the source portal well before the deadline. Late or incorrectly lodged bids are almost always rejected, so leave time for uploads, portal errors, and last-minute questions.
