Overview The Rural City of Wangaratta, through the Wangaratta Library, is inviting Expressions of Interest from individuals, community groups, and businesses to take part in GeekCon 2026. About GeekCon is Wangaratta's comic, gaming, and pop culture convention, featuring events, stalls, competitions, and activities for all ages and abilities. GeekCon aims to make popular culture such as comics, Cosplay and gaming more accessible to rural people who may not have the means to attend the larger conventions held in capital cities. Library staff, in conjunction with the Rural City of Wangaratta, Engage and Amplify, will coordinate this event as part of Victorian Youth Fest, supported by the Victorian Government. Youth Fest is an annual month-long celebration of young people (aged 12–25) across Victoria, providing an opportunity for youth to express their ideas and views and act on issues that affect their lives. Although the convention is held as part of Victorian Youth Fest, GeekCon is open to people of all ages. Attendance at previous GeekCon events has continually increased, with average attendance of 500 people.
