SR01209 - Fire Access & Fire Trails (FAFT) Upgrades - Kilmores Fire Trail, Hat Head National Park The trail included in this tender is of critical importance to the Hastings Macleay Area within the North Coast Branch. This trail serves as a vital access route for reserve management activities, including hazard reduction operations and bushfire suppression efforts. Its strategic role in emergency response and land management underscores the need for timely and compliant upgrades. Approximately half of the 10km road corridor has been brought up to standard, however, requires the installation of passing and turnaround bays to be compliant. The remainder of the trail requires works to the road corridor to rectify boggy and sandy patches with gravel and drainage and as well as the inclusion of passing and turnaround bays. This procurement will support the FAFT Program’s objectives by ensuring the trail is constructed to a standard that enables safe, reliable access for fire management and emergency services, while also enhancing the resilience of the infrastructure against future environmental impacts. Scope Procurement Scope Contractors will be engaged to undertake construction works, which include the renewal, re-sheeting, and construction of passing and turning bays for Kilmore Fire Trail. The proposed road upgrade activities include: • Clearing of vegetation with vegetation waste to be left on site • Delivery of gravel to site • Site mobilisation and demobilisation • Maintenance grade of the road surface • Excavation and removal of the road surface in certain sections to reach a stable sub-grade • Installation of geofabric and/or cobblestone in specific sections • Construction of a final compacted layer of road base with an appropriate crown or crossfall Additional scope items include: • Construction of passing bays at a minimum interval of 250 metres • Construction of turnaround bays at a minimum interval of 500 metres • Clearing of sediment build up in culvert inlets and re-establishment of drainage.
