Overview The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is seeking a suitably qualified supplier to design, install, and fit out a new Physical Containment Level 2 (PC2) Aquatic Laboratory. Purpose The project involves relocating MPI's existing aquatic laboratory into an existing PC3 laboratory space and delivering a fully operational aquaria that supports aquatic research, diagnostics, and biosecurity activities. Scope The scope includes: Design, installation, and fit-out of a new PC2 Aquatic Laboratory Relocation of MPI's existing aquatic laboratory into an existing PC3 laboratory space Delivery of a fully operational aquaria supporting aquatic research, diagnostics, and biosecurity activities Contractor Requirements Ability to form partnerships or subcontracting arrangements where the full range of skills and experience is not held by a single organisation, such as design consultancies partnering with construction contractors or specialist aquatic systems providers Demonstrated ability to provide a complete, integrated solution with clear accountability for delivery of the project from detailed design through to handover Access to specialist aquaculture and aquatic life-support expertise to support detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover of the facility Demonstrated understanding of PC2 laboratory requirements and relevant standards, including AS/NZS 2243.3 and AS/NZS 2982 Demonstrated understanding of the design and operation of aquatic systems, including recirculating aquaculture systems, water treatment, monitoring, controls, and life-support systems Instructions to Tenderers This will be a two-stage procurement process, beginning with an open Registration of Interest, followed by a closed competitive Request for Proposals for shortlisted respondents.
