Overview The Ministry of Education (NZ) is seeking a main contractor to repair the leaking swimming pool at Bream Bay College and install a new, fit for purpose filtration system. Purpose The outcome sought is a functioning school swimming pool with no leaking and a new fit for purpose filtration system that will future proof the pool for years to come. Scope The issuer is open to options for the repair and replacement but believes the following will be required. The scope includes: Grinding: removal of all existing pool paint, and addressing and repairing all cracks on the floor and walls Scaffolding, wrap, or cover: if required due to weather constraints, wrapping the pool once grinding is complete Demolition: removal of the old ring main filtration system and returns Prep work on the pool: grinding out all cracks on the pool floor and wall surfaces, sealing, epoxy and fibreglass application, cutting back and re-concreting the pool capping pathway to the same height, cutting and removing drainage from the centre of the pool, resetting the steel cage in the centre concrete, pouring and flashing with the top of the pool floor, and installing polyethene DPM to the floor with reinforcing mesh Concrete and plaster: resurfacing the pool with a 3 coat system, applying a final solid plaster coat around the swimming pool for a smooth painting finish, with a concrete floor of 75 to 100mm thick, plaster of 40mm thick, and a plaster cure time of 21 days before the first coat of primer New ring filtration system: PVC pipe holes drilled every 500mm apart, 8mm threaded fittings drilled and tapped, 8mm PU pipe extending through the concrete, reinforcement and trimming once concrete is poured over and painted, and each side of the ring main separated by pump, with 2 new pumps installed in the pool shed Painting: priming the surface, applying 3 coats of epoxy paint, and painting black lines on the base of the swimming pool Contractor Requirements Proposed solutions must be provided by qualified pool filtration and pool construction experts Full containment of grinding particulates must be addressed in each tenderer's Health and Safety response Enquiries All communications must take place through the GETS Question and Answer function.
