Music Kits for Years 0-8

Overview The Ministry of Education (NZ) is seeking a single supplier, or a consortium with a lead supplier, to design, produce and/or source, and distribute music kits to state schools and kura with students in Years 0-8. About This procurement follows an announcement by the Minister of Education on 4 June 2026 of a $5.636 million package of funding to provide taonga pūoro and musical instruments to state schools and kura with students in Years 0-8. Scope The scope includes: Design, production and/or sourcing, and distribution of music kits aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) to eligible schools and kura nationwide Provision of a Ukulele Kit Provision of a Percussion Kit (tuned and untuned) Provision of a Percussion Tube Kit (Boomwhacker) Provision of a Recorder Kit Support services incidental to the provision of the kits, including order tracking and repairs Ongoing communication with the Ministry and schools and kura throughout the ordering and fulfilment period, including proactive and timely updates on order status, shipping arrangements, and delivery Contractor Requirements Strong supply networks with the ability to deliver quality music kits to schools and kura around New Zealand Ability to provide comprehensive support in case things go wrong with the kits or their distribution Ability to outline warranty and repair processes Kits must meet the minimum requirements set out in the RFP Contract Terms and Conditions Kits must be provided at a value of up to $470 per kit, including delivery The number of kits available to each school will vary depending on the size of the roll Any responses that do not comply with the budget requirement will not be considered Instructions to Tenderers The Ministry will receive and consolidate school orders during a limited ordering window via Salesforce (hosted by the Ministry) and provide consolidated order information to the successful supplier.
