This RFP is issued by Turanga Group Holdings Limited (TGHL) the commercial entity of Rongowhakaata Iwi Trust. TGHL is seeking proposals from suitably qualified and experienced Main Contractors for the delivery of construction works at Te Wai-o-Hiharore, the historic Gisborne Railway Station building located at 268 Grey Street, Awapuni, Gisborne. The project involves the refurbishment and adaptive reuse of the historic railway station building, a Category II heritage building, for contemporary commercial office use. The scope of works includes heritage sensitive refurbishment to the exterior of the main station building, construction of a new primary entrance and mahau to the Northern facade, full internal fit-out, upgrading of structural and new building services, refurbishment of the railway platform and canopy (to be managed and priced as a separate work portion), associated civil and site works, and demolition of small ancillary structures. The historic railway station building and the platform/canopy are physically integrated but sit across separate land ownerships. Accordingly, pricing and delivery of platform and canopy works must be clearly separated within the proposal. This project is a flagship iwi-led regeneration initiative that weaves together heritage and place for future generations.
