Timaru Girls High School Accessible Access Property Modifications - Main Building Contractor

Overview The Ministry of Education (NZ) is seeking a main building contractor for Timaru Girls High School, relating to accessible access and property modifications to enable students to access all areas for learning across the site. Scope The scope includes: Modification of the stage access to enable installation of a platform lift Addition of rubber ramps to various door thresholds around the site to accommodate 20-40mm steps and provide ease of access Replacement of the existing change table with a new change table Extension of the deck by the canteen across the paths, with ramp access provided at each end Extension of the timber deck across the concrete landing at the top of the stairs at the eastern end of the block to provide access to all rooms off the covered veranda (rooms 13 to 17) Addition of a ramp to the veranda at the western end in place of three steps, to enable access from adjoining passages to the veranda and subsequent rooms Installation of a new ramp from the veranda to the lower ground level to enable access from this area Replacement of the second floor passage fire door with a new door providing a larger door leaf, fitted with a hold open device Fitting of hold open devices to internal fire doors on the ground floor of the science block to enable ease of access during normal day to day use
