Overview Rio Tinto Limited is seeking expressions of interest from contractors to provide bussing services in support of construction requirements for the Kangwinan Project. About The Kangwinan Project is located in the vicinity of Norman Creek, Cape York Peninsula, approximately 60 km south of Weipa. A bauxite processing plant will be constructed on the southern side of Norman Creek and then transported approximately 15 km south-east via overland conveyor to the existing Amrun stockyard. Key scoping items for the Project include a new 19Mtpa crushing and beneficiation plant, a camp expansion, new overland conveyor, water supply, wharf and stockyard expansion, together with significant water infrastructure and earthworks scope. Scope The scope includes: Provision of bussing services to support the construction requirements of the project, both north and south of the Embley River Use of new buses with 54 seats, with a peak fleet requirement of approximately 21 buses Approximately 6 buses based in Weipa at peak, servicing the airport to Humbug Ferry terminal route to transport personnel for R&R and residing at Evan's Landing Village Approximately 8 buses at peak servicing personnel at Amrun Village, transporting personnel from the Hey River Ferry terminal to Amrun Village and providing daily transport to site Approximately 7 buses at peak transporting personnel from the Hey River Ferry terminal to Norman Creek Village and providing daily travel to site Provision of suitably qualified and experienced drivers All maintenance requirements for the bus fleet Allowance of mitigation measures to provide for continuous services Provision of all management, supervision, labour, tools, consumables and operating supplies, plant and equipment, materials, incidentals, specified equipment and furnishings, and performance of all necessary operations required for the scope of works Contractor Requirements Compliance with all applicable Rio Tinto Standards, Australian and local regulations, statutory requirements, and Australian codes and standards as specified in the detailed scope of work provided to bid participants Eligibility Expressions of interest are being sought from contractors who can complete the whole scope of works. Expressions of interest may be submitted for all or part of the scope of works described. Local and Indigenous businesses are encouraged to participate.
