About this tender

Overview TAFE Queensland is seeking information from suitably qualified suppliers regarding the provision of welding training bays, welding fume extraction systems, associated infrastructure, and supporting equipment for educational and training facilities across TAFE Queensland campuses. There are currently 26 identified campuses across the state that provide training requiring welding competencies, and solutions should be capable of supporting installations ranging from individual training bays through to larger multi-bay educational workshop environments. Purpose The information obtained through this Request for Information (RFI) will assist TAFE Queensland in understanding available market capabilities, developing functional requirements, estimating budgetary considerations, and informing any future procurement strategy. This RFI is issued for market research, planning and information-gathering purposes only. It does not constitute an invitation to tender, offer, commitment or representation by TAFE Queensland to purchase goods or services, enter into a contract, or proceed with any future procurement activity. Information Requested TAFE Queensland is seeking information on welding bay and extraction solutions capable of supporting vocational education and training activities undertaken by students and instructors. Suppliers should provide detailed written information addressing the requirements outlined below. Welding Fume Capture and Extraction Performance The proposed solution must demonstrate the capability to effectively capture and remove welding fumes from the breathing zone and immediate work area of students and instructors during welding activities. The solution should: Capture fumes as close to the source as reasonably practicable Minimise operator exposure to airborne contaminants Support extraction performance across a range of welding positions Maintain effective extraction without adversely impacting welding activities or learning outcomes Support continuous operation in a high-use training environment The proposed solution must be capable of effectively capturing fumes generated while undertaking: Down-hand welding Horizontal welding Overhead welding Emerging Technology and Innovation TAFE Queensland encourages suppliers to propose innovative or emerging technologies that may provide superior welding fume control outcomes when compared to traditional local exhaust ventilation systems. This may include technologies such as: Integrated extraction guns Smart extraction systems Automated fume capture Sensor-based controls Air quality monitoring platforms Other innovative technologies that improve fume capture, user compliance and exposure reduction in educational environments Monitoring Controls and Performance Data TAFE Queensland is interested in understanding the monitoring and reporting capabilities of proposed solutions, including: Airflow monitoring Filter condition monitoring Extraction performance monitoring Air quality monitoring Data logging Dashboards and reporting Fault alarms Predictive maintenance

How to respond to this tender

A strong tender response is clear, compliant, and backed by evidence. These steps apply to most Australian and New Zealand public tenders.

Read the requirements in full

Open the official listing and download the full tender pack. Note the response schedules, evaluation criteria, mandatory conditions, and the exact closing time and lodgement method.

Confirm you are eligible and it is worth bidding

Check licences, insurances, certifications, and any conformance requirements before you commit. A quick bid or no-bid decision saves days of wasted effort on a tender you cannot win.

Answer every criterion with evidence

Respond to each evaluation criterion directly and back your claims with concrete examples, referees, and past performance. Address the buyer’s stated need, not a generic capability statement.

Lodge early through the official portal

Submit through the source portal well before the deadline. Late or incorrectly lodged bids are almost always rejected, so leave time for uploads, portal errors, and last-minute questions.
