Bicycle Network Plan - BPAC Designs

Overview The City of Burnside is seeking a consultant to develop a detailed design to modify two existing pedestrian crossings into Bicycle and Pedestrian Actuated Crossings (BPAC). About In 2025 the City of Burnside endorsed a Bicycle Network Plan (BNP), which aims to create a safer and more enjoyable cycling experience for cyclists of all ages and abilities, and encourages a reduced use of cars. The BNP includes three existing east-west primary bicycle routes, three new north-south primary bicycle routes, three new or improved alternate bicycle routes, and a number of secondary routes. Purpose One of the actions in the BNP is to develop a detailed design to modify two existing pedestrian crossings, to include bicycle phases and any other required supporting infrastructure, effectively creating Bicycle and Pedestrian Actuated Crossings (BPAC). Scope The scope includes: Development of detailed designs to modify two existing pedestrian crossings to include bicycle phases and any other required supporting infrastructure, creating Bicycle and Pedestrian Actuated Crossings (BPAC) Preparation of detailed designs for the crossing at Fullarton Rd, near Mulberry Rd / Elizabeth St Preparation of detailed designs for the crossing at Portrush Rd, near Fowlers Rd / Gilles Rd Preparation of designs suitable for use by Council's construction contractor to undertake the work in future years
