The Port Augusta City Council established the Great Western Bridge Timbers Advisory Group to determine appropriate criteria for the repurposing of the timbers and to assess expressions of interest that are received from the community for use of the timbers, as well as to contribute thoughts and ideas to Council of how the timbers can be repurposed for use in Council projects. Council is now inviting community groups, clubs and organisations to submit an expression of interest application to be considered to receive timbers from the Great Western Bridge for repurposing. It is a requirement of the Department for Infrastructure and Transport that the recycled timber may only be used in an outdoor setting and may not be used where there is frequent and/or intimate contact i.e. indoor furniture, children’s toys, chopping boards, tabletops, bench seats or wetland infrastructure. If successful, you will need to execute an agreement acknowledging the requirements for the repurposing of the timbers and excepting all liability and risk in the timbers, to the extent permitted by law. Please note, submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee selection.
