Yatala Heated Meal Trolleys

Overview The Department for Correctional Services (SA) is seeking to source and purchase 21 heated meal trolleys (hot boxes) to support the safe and efficient distribution of meals from the Yatala prison kitchen to prisoner accommodation units. About The commercial kitchen at Yatala Labour Prison (YLP) provides meals to over 800 prisoners. An expansion is currently underway which will increase total capacity to over 1100. Meals are delivered daily from the kitchen to accommodation units. Meals can be either hot or cold and must be securely held under temperature control until they are handed to prisoners. Scope Hot boxes are used to distribute meals to prisoners while keeping food at a safe temperature. They must be of heavy-duty construction, suitable for a correctional environment. Specification Type The scope includes supply of hot boxes meeting the following specifications: Stainless steel construction Weather resistant Approximate dimensions of 1200mm (h) x 1130mm (w) x 785mm (d) Able to accommodate 120 to 160 Zylon Jones 3 compartment meal containers Metal shelving with a centre divider, securable by bolts Rail around the top of the unit to prevent items on top of the unit from falling, able to accommodate a tub of 580mm Lockable doors to fit a full size padlock or slide lock, doors to swing open from the front side at 90 degrees, with rubber door stops Weld on hinges All seams fully welded (apart from hinges) No sharp edges or burrs All fasteners of security type Rubber bumper around the base Dual zone heating, able to heat and hold temperature at 90 degrees Compliant with Australian Electrical Standards Removable and interchangeable heating element Heating element sufficiently protected from impact and not protruding past the bumper Electrical cord at least 2m long and coiled Heavy duty wheels for travelling across multiple terrains including asphalt 2 x swivel castors with brakes and 2 x rigid castors Dead man braking system capable of holding the trolley on a maximum incline of 26 degrees Brakes operating automatically to slow the trolley when travelling downhill Brakes on rear wheels to prevent the trolley spinning around when parked on a decline Enquiries Penny Beumer Penny.Beumer2@sa.gov.au
