Alcohol and Other Drugs Program

Overview Gippsland PHN is advising of potential future commissioning considerations relating to the Alcohol and Other Drugs Program, following the Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing's redesign of the Drug and Alcohol Program. About The Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is redesigning the Drug and Alcohol Program, with a stronger focus on the full continuum of care, including prevention, early intervention, treatment and recovery, and workforce development. This presents an opportunity to strengthen Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) outcomes across Gippsland and respond to emerging community needs. Purpose Gippsland PHN is yet to receive any updated funding schedule from the Department, but consideration of potential future commissioning arrangements has commenced. At this stage, no decisions have been made regarding service models, funding allocations, or procurement processes. As further information becomes available from the Department, future commissioning considerations are expected to reflect the broader scope and priorities of the redesigned program. Any procurement activity, should it occur, would be for services commencing from 1 July 2027.
