Digital Mobile Radio Replacement

Overview Gippsland Water is seeking a suitable replacement solution for its Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) system, which supports operational remote sites and mobile vehicle voice and emergency communications. About Gippsland Water owns and operates the current DMR system, which is used to reduce risk associated with staff working remotely or in isolation, including during incidents and emergencies. The system's GPS tracking technology allows office staff to locate site staff in the event of an emergency. The core base station equipment is aging, and four base stations are no longer supported by the manufacturer. Purpose The tender is being undertaken because the core base station equipment of the current DMR system is aging, with four base stations no longer supported by the manufacturer, requiring a replacement solution. Scope The scope includes: Provision of a suitable replacement solution for Gippsland Water's Digital Mobile Radio system Utilisation of the existing handheld and portable radios, which are reasonably current, as part of the replacement solution Instructions to Tenderers The Victorian State election will be held on Saturday 28 November 2026, and the Victorian Government will assume a caretaker role from 6:00 pm on Tuesday 3 November 2026 until it becomes clear that the incumbent government will be returned, or when a new government is commissioned. In line with caretaker conventions, the incoming government will determine whether to proceed with this tender process and enter into the contract award after the caretaker period.
