Independent Audit and Risk Committee Member

Overview East Gippsland Water is seeking an independent member for its Audit and Risk Committee, an advisory committee of the Board comprising Directors and independent members. The Committee provides guidance on audit, governance, risk management, internal controls and financial reporting. About East Gippsland Water provides an essential water service to customers across the East Gippsland region and prides itself on a workplace culture of collaboration, innovation, authenticity and accountability. The Role Key responsibilities of the Committee member include: Providing independent advice and guidance to the Board on audit, governance, risk management and financial reporting matters Reviewing and assessing the effectiveness of risk management, internal control and compliance frameworks Monitoring audit activities, including internal and external audit outcomes and management responses Contributing to the oversight of financial reporting processes and organisational accountability Evaluating emerging risks and providing strategic insight to support informed decision-making Supporting strong corporate governance and continuous improvement across the organisation Reviewing policies, frameworks and reports relevant to the Committee's responsibilities Applying professional expertise and independent judgement to Committee discussions and recommendations Attending 4 to 5 Committee meetings per year and preparing by reviewing meeting materials in advance Acting in the best interests of East Gippsland Water and the communities it serves Role Requirements Applicants should have significant experience and qualifications in one or more of the following areas: Accounting, financial management and reporting Risk management Information systems and technology Corporate governance Highly regulated and/or public sector environments Board or committee membership As part of its commitment to creating a diverse, inclusive and flexible workplace, East Gippsland Water strongly encourages applications from experienced women and men, First Nations People, people with differing abilities, LGBTQI+, and culturally and ethnically diverse candidates to best represent and engage with the community.
