King Street Drainage Infrastructure Replacement

Overview The Shire of Merredin is seeking a suitably experienced WALGA Preferred Supply Panel Contractor to undertake the Merredin Drainage Infrastructure Replacement projects, namely the King Street "Bridge" works. This involves the removal and replacement of the existing crossing asset located on King Street, with the principal objective of delivering a safe, durable, and fully compliant asset replacement that eliminates water undermining risks and restores unrestricted traffic flow. Scope The Contractor shall be responsible for all works, materials, plant, and labour required to execute the complete replacement of the King Street Bridge, including supply and construction of a replacement bridge asset matching the required 8.5 metre wide and 8 metre long road deck alignment. The scope includes: 1. Preliminaries Mobilisation Survey set out Traffic management Liaison with service providers where a service may be interrupted, including but not limited to Water Corporation and Shire of Merredin Irrigation 2. Demolition Removal and disposal of existing bridge material Removal of existing railing Removal of bridge slab and disposal off-site Removal of centre concrete support Protection and support of existing services 3. Excavation Base preparation including compaction and placement of compacted cracker dust layer Boxing out either side approaches and filling with stabilised sand for culvert support 4. Installation Supply and installation of 2 x reinforced box culverts (RCBC) nominally 3600 x 1800 with insitu/precast bases Backfilling with stabilised sand to finished level Supply and installation of multi-cell insitu/precast concrete headwalls Supply and installation of insitu/precast L-walls Supply and installation of insitu/precast cut-off walls Supply and installation of insitu/precast concrete aprons Tying into existing rock channel walls Rock pitching upstream and downstream for 5 metre distance across the width of the drainage channel 5. Seal Sealing with a single 10mm primer seal Laying and compacting 40mm DG14 black asphalt wearing course Matching sealed road approaches (up to a minimum of 10 metres from each abutment interface) to guarantee smooth, seamless geometric transitions Supply and installation of compliant roadside furniture, edge barriers, or guardrail assemblies to current standards 6.
