About this tender
Expressions of interest are now open on an ongoing basis for Blue Mountains City Council’s Recreate Artist Residency at the Katoomba Resource Recovery and Waste Management Facility. The residency offers a unique opportunity for artists to develop projects and creative practices inspired by the site, while deepening their understanding of waste management and resource recovery within the Blue Mountains region. During the residency, artists can access: Short-term studio space (up to three months) Green waste, e-waste and other suitable materials from the Waste Facility Project support from Council’s Cultural Development Team Day-to-day operational support from Waste Facility staff The program is open to emerging and established artists, collaborators and collectives working across a broad range of practices, including textiles, photography, painting, printmaking, sound, video, experimental and cross-disciplinary arts. Previous residents include local photographer Maja Baska and dancer and physical performer Em Yali, who used the opportunity to develop new work inspired by discarded materials and the environmental impact of waste.
