Overview Rio Tinto Limited is seeking expressions of interest from contractors to undertake design services for the Amrun Village Expansion, forming part of the Kangwinan Project (26747-030-HC6-G00Y-00082). About The Kangwinan Project is located in the vicinity of Norman Creek, Cape York Peninsula, approximately 60 km south of Weipa. A bauxite processing plant will be constructed on the southern side of Norman Creek and then transported approximately 15 km south-east via overland conveyor to the existing Amrun stockyard. Key scoping items for the Project include a new 19Mtpa crushing and beneficiation plant, a camp expansion, a new overland conveyor, water supply, wharf and stockyard expansion, together with significant water infrastructure and earthworks scope. Scope The Contractor would be responsible for developing the necessary design drawings and specifications for all disciplines, including but not limited to architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, piping, instrumentation, communications and controls, for the expansion of the existing Amrun Village. The scope includes design for the following facilities: Accommodation modules: 70 modules x 4 rooms (280 rooms) Laundry modules: 5 modules (10 washers and 10 dryers per module) Locker storage modules: 1 locker per bed, minimum of 280 lockers Recreation facility for indoor leisure, games and entertainment Barbeque shelters Indoor gymnasium facility with various fitness equipment to support personnel physical health and exercise routines Maintenance shed facility Modular ablution facilities Bulk linen storage facilities Modular ice making facilities Ground mounted 22/0.433 kV transformer The works comprise a permanent brownfield village expansion, augmenting and expanding existing utilities to a permanent standard of works, with an electrical tie-in to the existing 22 kV overhead powerline. Contractor Requirements Compliance with all applicable Rio Tinto Standards, Australian and local regulations, statutory requirements, and Australian codes and standards as specified in the detailed scope of work provided to bid participants Expressions of interest are being sought from Contractors who can complete the whole scope of works.
