Overview The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking responses to this RFT for the Provision of Specialist Medical Advice Services. About The Department of Transport and Planning plans, builds and operates an integrated, sustainable and safe transport system for Australia's fastest-growing state. Since 1 July 2019, VicRoads and Public Transport Victoria have been part of the Department. As the Victorian Government's central transport agency, the Department is accountable for all portfolio funding provided through the State Budget. Its purpose is to deliver simple, connected journeys for people and for freight, with a vision to meet the aspirations of Victorians for a transport system that is simple, connected, accessible, reliable, safe and supports a productive, growing economy. Scope The services to be provided under this Agreement require the Supplier to provide specialist medical advice in relation to the impact of medical condition/s on a Victorian driver licence/permit holder or applicant's fitness to drive safely. The scope includes: Engagement of suitably qualified and experienced medical specialists Examination of the medical history and medical records (the medical case) of a licence/permit holder or applicant Discussions with the person's treating practitioner as part of the review, where applicable Provision of an independent medical opinion/recommendation on whether the driver licence/permit holder or applicant is safe to drive Assessment in accordance with the national driver medical standards, being the Austroads and National Transport Commission (NTC) publication "Assessing fitness to drive for commercial and private vehicle drivers" Contractor Requirements The Supplier must engage suitably qualified and experienced medical specialists to review medical cases and provide independent medical opinions/recommendations Tender Briefing A Medical Review Overview Briefing Session will be held for this opportunity.
