Overview WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) has issued an Early Tender Advice Request for Quote for Psychological Therapies in Residential Aged Care, Perth North. WAPHA is commissioning in-house Psychological Treatment Services for residents of residential aged care homes (RACHs). About Older people living in residential aged care homes experience disproportionately high rates of common mental illness, particularly depression and anxiety. Despite this level of need, residents of RACHs face significant and well documented barriers to accessing timely and appropriate mental health care. Purpose The intent of the Residential Aged Care Home Psychological Treatment service is to improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes for residents by addressing current access barriers. It will operate as part of a broader stepped care mental health system and seeks to strengthen integration between aged care, primary care and specialist mental health services. In response to this systemic gap, WAPHA is commissioning these services to improve access to evidence-based mental health care for residents whose needs can be safely and effectively met within a primary care and stepped care framework.
