Future Procurement Opportunity (FPO) - Supply of Medical Gas Vaporisers to Health New Zealand Hospitals
Tender Overview
About this tender
Pharmac is progressing towards a competitive market process for electronic and mechanical medical gas vaporisers used in Health New Zealand (“Health NZ”) hospitals. The purpose of this activity is to support a more consistent and transparent approach to the procurement of gas vaporisers, ensuring purchasing decisions are informed, comparable, and deliver public value across the public health system. Gas vaporisers are specialised medical devices that add a precise and controlled concentration of volatile anaesthetic agents (i.e., sevoflurane, desflurane, and isoflurane) to the fresh gas flow of an anaesthesia breathing circuit. These devices are clinically essential in a range of healthcare delivery settings. Given their importance, Pharmac sees value in focusing on a procurement process that would secure solutions that are clinically fit-for-purpose, cost-effective, and commercially sustainable over time. Pharmac is interested in procuring both mechanical and electronic vaporisers. Previously, gas vaporisers have been supplied as part of bundled arrangements linked to the anaesthetic agents. This opportunity seeks to establish arrangements specific to vaporisers, enabling clearer visibility of costs and a more consistent, transparent approach to sourcing them as a component of the anaesthesia ecosystem. How to respond to this tender
A strong tender response is clear, compliant, and backed by evidence. These steps apply to most Australian and New Zealand public tenders.

Open the official listing and download the full tender pack. Note the response schedules, evaluation criteria, mandatory conditions, and the exact closing time and lodgement method.
Confirm you are eligible and it is worth bidding
Check licences, insurances, certifications, and any conformance requirements before you commit. A quick bid or no-bid decision saves days of wasted effort on a tender you cannot win.
Answer every criterion with evidence
Respond to each evaluation criterion directly and back your claims with concrete examples, referees, and past performance. Address the buyer’s stated need, not a generic capability statement.
Lodge early through the official portal
