About this tender
Overview Invercargill City Council, on behalf of WasteNet Southland, has released preliminary tender information for waste services. This update follows the Request for Information released on 5 December 2024, and subsequent Advance Notice Updates issued on 23 March 2026 and 9 June 2026. About WasteNet operates as a shared service providing joint waste management and minimisation services to Gore District Council (GDC), Invercargill City Council (ICC), and Southland District Council (SDC). A key role of WasteNet is to manage external contracts to provide safe, effective and efficient waste services to the Southland Region. The WasteNet councils operate a network of 10 resource recovery centres (formally known as refuse transfer stations), 14 recycle drop off centres, and transport and collection services throughout the Southland Region. These services, along with the processing of materials, are currently managed through two contracts.
