Overview Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service is seeking a contractor to undertake external refurbishment works to The Demaine at Marybourough Hospital. About The Demaine is a building over 100 years old and is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. The Building, Engineering and Maintenance Department (BEMS) has identified that the structural integrity of the building is compromised in various locations. The Demaine also has several compliance issues, including the Level 1 Balustrade and asbestos material in the waterproof membrane located on the level 1 veranda floor. Purpose The identified compliance issues need to be addressed to ensure ongoing safety for patients, staff and the broader community. The proposed works aim to complete all external refurbishment works required to meet current compliance and to avoid expensive maintenance issues in the future. The proposed works will align with extensive engineering reports and the Heritage approved Architectural design completed in 2024. Scope The scope includes, but is not limited to: Veranda and balustrade upgrades Asbestos removal New waterproof protection (Level 1, veranda deck) External lighting upgrades Replacement of fire stairs New covered walkway (Block F to Block V) DDA front ramp Various building works External painting Contract Terms and Conditions The works will take approximately 10 to 12 months to complete from the award date Works will need to be staged to suit the scope of works and the operations of Oral Health, Supportive Therapy, Hospital in the Home and Staff Accommodation
