North Queensland Region - Far North - Market Sounding and Information Share for QTRIP

Overview The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is inviting prequalified contractors, consultants for engineering projects, and industry partners to attend a Market Sounding and Information Share for the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) for projects within the Far North district (FND). About FND is home to approximately 280,000+ people and covers an area of about 273,158 square kilometres, or around 15% of Queensland. It is centred around the city of Cairns, extending from the Torres Strait Islands in the north to the top of the Cardwell Range in the south, and from Cairns in the east to Croydon in the west. The district is home to World Heritage Sites including the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics of Queensland, and is home to the two oldest continuous cultures on the planet, the Aboriginal Australians and the Torres Strait Islanders. As such, it is the only district in Queensland to work within both the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act (2003) and the Torres Strait Islander Cultural Heritage Act (2003). Far North Queensland supports a significant cultural sector, a flourishing tourism industry, regional mining precincts, renewable energy developments, and many national park areas. Purpose This industry briefing will provide industry with a broad understanding of the challenges and scope for the future QTRIP program of works, the type of skills required, procurement delivery strategies, the likely budgets available, and the timing of the work entering the market, of interest to both contractors, consultants and supply chain partners. Scope FND QTRIP includes projects such as: Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program Kuranda Range Safety & Resilience Upgrade Cairns Western Arterial Road Duplication Cape York Region Package Key investment in project planning Tender Briefing The FND industry briefing is being held on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, between 10:00am and 11:00am via Teams. Date: Tuesday, 29 September 2026 Time: 10:00am to 11:00am Format: Virtual briefing (via Teams) For a Teams invitation, email FN_District_Director@tmr.qld.gov.au by 12noon Monday 28th September 2026, and interested parties will receive an invite to attend. A limit of two invites per company may attend the event. Registrations must include the names of those attending the briefing.
